HISTORY
Pakistan - Belgium Business Forum (PBBF) was formed in April, 1997 with 14 founder members under the patronage of Royal Belgian Embassy. His Excellency Mr. Wilfred Geens was the Ambassador of Belgium in Pakistan and Mr. A. H. A Ahmed was the first President of PBBF at that time. Thus, the credit for forming PBBF goes to these two "founding fathers".The Ambassador of Belgium is the Patron in Chief of this Forum. PBBF is accredited by Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Belgium and Luxembourg and has a MOU with Brussels Enterprises Commerce and Industry to encourage bilateral trade and business activities between the two countries. Our objectives are to encourage and promote business ties, mutual understanding and friendly relations between the business communities of the two countries whilst our membership of 80 companies encompasses a diverse range of business activities such as Shipping and Freight Forwarding, Textiles, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing of Building Materials, Cement, Glass, etc. with varying degrees of collaboration with Belgium. PBBF enjoys a tremendous reputation amongst other Fora as well as business and official circles.
AIMS
AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objectives of the PBBF are:
1. To encourage and promote business, mutual understanding
and friendly relations between the business communities
of Pakistan and Belgium.
2. To encourage and promote Belgian investment in Pakistan
and vice versa and to do all things conducive for the
development of Pakistan – Belgium business co-operation.
3. To promote the development of trade, commerce and
economic co-operation between the two countries.
4. To foster and organize trade and investment delegations,
trade fairs, exhibitions, symposia, lectures, etc
and facilitate participation in international fairs
and exhibitions in both countries.
5. To obtain, evaluate and circulate trade and investment
related data and information and economic statistics
among members, and to publish and support publications,
bulletins, or any other information/material beneficial
or useful in the mutual interests of trade and investment
between the two countries.
6. To co-ordinate and co-operate with other organizations,
entities, Associations, Fora Chambers, etc. whose aims
and objectives coincide with those of the Forum.
7. To negotiate and enter into any agreements in the
best interest of the Forum.
8. To make rules, regulations and bye-laws from time
to time for the management of the affairs and assets
of the Forum, and to add or vary or cancel the same
at any time within the ambit of the law.
9. To give and accept grants, scholarships, awards,
donations and assistance.
10. To do any or all of the above in the best interests
of the Forum and for furtherance of the aims and objects
of the Forum.
11. To do any or all such things as are incidental or
conducive to the attainment of the above mentioned objectives
of the Forum.
Membership
is open to any company/institution or person having
business with or intending to do business with Belgium,
being committed to become a member of the Forum and
proposed/introduced by two Forum members in good standing.
The proposer must personally know the individual person
or in the case of an entity, the nominee of the entity.
The nominee shall be a senior executive and in case
of a Belgian enterprise in Pakistan, its senior delegate.
The Royal Belgian Embassy, the Consulate Generals and
the Honorary Consulates in Pakistan shall encourage
membership of Belgian companies.
